Talk_Jared Althame
I'm trying to figure out what the scope of this game is going to be so I can better re-engineer Jared for the length of the game. I'm looking at re-aligning his character classes, and one of the possible ideas is scout. Another that occurred to me is the Gemini Dancer.
- Please create a local page for that here, since I can't view dandwiki from work. Kenjura, 12:44, 2 April 2007 (EDT)
- As for the rest, I see no reason to worry about scope. The possible benefits of not going for a prestige class are not very high, especially for a fighter in the world of 3.5 feats. A fighter gets most of his power from a magic weapon and high ability scores; same goes for defense, with armor and shield this time. As a dual-wielder, your defense will rise slower in higher levels. Leave it behind; a 15th-level Jared should invest in items of tricky defense (mirror image, improved blink, etc) rather than too many AC boosters.
- Then again, on the same note, a prestige class with a good defense boost could be a big help. I'm not familiar with Gemini Dancer (yet) so I'm not sure.
- Personally, with Jared, I'd go for all-out offense. He's already proven he can fight defensively better than even the paladin; might as well go for king of offense as well. Exploit your number of attacks--they'll go up soon. Beat the (new, improved) half-orc's strength style by investing in hit bonus (weapon focus! more weapon focus!), and get some energy on those chain ends as soon as you can. If you play your cards right, Jared can be a god of the battlefield.
- Discussed today, and Jared is going to try out the Gemini Dancer. I'm going to try integrating it into the elven culture of the Cormanthor forests and I think it'll give him some useful abilities. If it needs to be rebalanced after play testing, we can do that, but I'm willing to give it a shot.
